News from Israel

Hello, my name is Shimon Avikser.
I am a reserve combat soldier in Battalion 9, Golani Reconnaissance Unit.

Trying to find a job between rounds of reserve duty has completely broken me. Even after successful job interviews, employers would back away when I told them that I would report for reserve duty whenever I was called up. Meanwhile, the struggle to provide for my children only grew harder.

The worst moment of all came when my beloved wife, Hadar, was diagnosed with cancer while I was serving in combat in Gaza.

When her condition deteriorated, I was urgently called back from the front lines to the hospital. I was fortunate enough to say goodbye to her, and within half an hour, she passed away before my eyes.

Hadar’s final request was:
“Shimon, take care of our three children.”

Since that day, I have done everything in my power to keep that promise. >
But as a single father and the sole provider for my family, after months of reserve duty, searching for work, and being away from home, the financial burden has become overwhelming.

**Dear people of Israel, I need your help. 🙏**

I have given everything I can to serve my country, and this time, I need you by my side.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help my children and me begin a new chapter after this devastating tragedy.

Ahmad Tibi: After the elections, we will enable the formation of an alternative government and remove Netanyahu and Ohana from office.
It's not as if U.S. presidents haven't intervened here over the years, but never through official endorsements. They've never said so explicitly. Only Clinton campaigned for Peres, and Trump for Netanyahu. Senior White House officials are telling me, "We haven't seen any new polls. The polls we've seen, the ones conducted for us, still show Netanyahu roughly in the range we're seeing here." In Netanyahu's office, on the other side of the pond, as the British say, they're saying, "We didn't know this in advance. Look, we had to dig up some archival video because we suddenly discovered, on a social media platform we don't even subscribe to, that Trump had written a manifesto in support of Netanyahu." Two versions, both a bit dubious, in my opinion.

I'll tell you what's changed, in my view. First, when you're the president of the world's greatest superpower, there's no price to pay for making a mistake. Take Hungary, for example: the candidate Trump didn't want was elected. So can Hungary impose sanctions on Trump?

In the end, when you're the president of the world's most powerful superpower, everyone, even Eisenkot, even Lieberman, even Bennett, will have to deal with you. I suggest we look at this and learn, for the tenth time, the lesson we constantly refuse to learn: when it comes to Trump and Netanyahu, there's more to their relationship than meets the eye. Let me give you an example.

They've spoken numerous times over the past month, far more often than has been reported publicly. So, with all due respect to Trump's endorsement of Netanyahu, and I don't know how much of an impact it will actually have here, it's helping to shape the agenda. But what's more significant is that if they're talking this often, it's very possible that even on the issue that's truly critical to our existence, the future of the war with Iran, their cooperation is much closer than it appears.
Poll: The Change Bloc leads Netanyahu’s bloc by one seat. Winter fails to cross the electoral threshold, while Yaron Zelekha does.

A quarter of respondents say they may not vote.
Netanyahu is in talks with Moti Leitner, chairman of the New Haredim Party, about withdrawing from the race.

For now, Netanyahu is refusing to commit to offering him a ministerial position in the next government or a guaranteed spot on the electoral list in the next elections.

Nevertheless, progress has been made in the negotiations.

The party stated: “We’re staying in the race until the very end.”
Lapid last night on “Meet the Press”: “I took the initiative to ask the Americans not to interfere in Israel’s elections.”
